Teen charged in British policewoman's murder

A teenager was charged Tuesday with a British policewoman's murder, authorities said.

Yusuf Jama, 19, was also accused of robbery and firearms offenses and he was scheduled to attend a magistrate's hearing Wednesday in Leeds, northern England, police said. He was arrested over the weekend.

Constable Sharon Beshenivsky, 38, was shot dead two weeks ago in the northern city of Bradford, as she and her partner, both rookie officers, tried to tackle a gang of three men who had robbed a travel agency in the city center. The other officer, Constable Teresa Milburn, 37, was wounded in the attack.

Detectives said earlier Tuesday that they wanted to speak to two other men in connection with the shooting, AP reports.
