Explosion in Turkey capital injures two Syrians

An explosion in a yarn depot on the edges of Turkey's largest city late Friday lightly injured two Syrians, one of whom fled from a hospital after saying he needed to go to the bathroom, police said.

The explosion occurred in the Istanbul suburb of Avcilar, partly destroying a wall of the depot and starting a fire, a police official said on customary condition of anonymity.

Police arriving at the scene brought the two injured Syrians to a nearby hospital, where they were admitted for treatment. One said he needed to go to the bathroom, and then disappeared, the official said. The other was later taken from the hospital to a police building for questioning, the official said.

Investigators were at the scene and could not yet determine if the explosion was the result of an intentional bombing or not, the official said, AP reports.
