Four people arrested in connection with aggravated burglary in England

Four people have been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in which a 79-year-old man suffered a fractured skull and broken nose.

Fred Wroe was hit over the head with a baseball bat and threatened by two men as he answered the door of his home in Highwoods Road, Mexborough.

One of the men held him on the ground while the other searched his bedroom and stole a substantial amount of cash.

Three men, aged 19, 45 and 46, and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested.

Two of Mr Wroe's neighbours, a couple in their late 60s, were out walking on Friday when they saw Mr Wroe's door was ajar and went to investigate.

Two men then ran from the property and one of them hit the woman on the back of her head with a baseball bat, police said. Although her husband grabbed one of the men he was unable to hold him and they were seen leaving in a dark hatchback car, reports BBC news. I.L.
