A roadside bomb killed one U.S. soldier and wounded another on Wednesday in southern Iraq, the U.S. military said.
The attack occurred while the Brigade Combat Team soldiers were patrolling an area near Safwan, not far from Iraq's border with Kuwait, the statement said.
The U.S. military also announced Wednesday that a Marine from the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force died from a non-hostile gunshot wound two days earlier near Fallujah. The incident is under investigation, the AP reports.
The deaths brought to 1,920 the number of U.S. service members who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
The identities of the soldiers were withheld pending notification of their relatives.
