50 wounded in Byelorussian city Vitebsk in bomb explosion

Up to 50 people were wounded, four of them seriously, in a bomb explosion in the city of Vitebsk, the Interfax news agency reported Friday.

It was the second such explosion within two weeks in the town. Interfax reported that the explosive device in the Thursday night blast was buried in a flower-bed outside a cafe.

It said that police sources reported that up to 50 people had been wounded, four of whom were in serious condition.

In the previous incident, a homemade bomb, a beer can stuffed with nails and metal scraps, was planted on Sept. 15in a flower-bed near a bus stop close to a theater. That blast wounded two people.
