A strong earthquake shook eastern Taiwan on Tuesday, the Central Weather Bureau said, but no damage or injuries were immediately reported.
The 6.1-magnitude quake was centered under the ocean 63 kilometers (39 miles) off the coasts of Hualien, the weather bureau said. Hualien is 180 kilometers (110 miles) southeast of the capital, Taipei. The quake swayed buildings in Taipei. It was felt throughout Taiwan, the bureau said, AP reports.
