Al-Qaida threatens to kill Algerian diplomats kidnapped in Iraq

The al-Qaida in Iraq released a video showing two Algerian diplomats kidnapped last week. The group had earlier said in an Internet statement that it would kill the two men, but there was no word on whether the threat had been carried out. The video does not show the men being killed.

The video shows Algerian diplomats Ali Belaroussi and Azzedine Belkadi speaking separately. Both are blindfolded. In the video they each identify themselves, give their ages - Belaroussi, 62, and Belkadi, 47 - and their addresses in Algeria, the AP reports.

In a brief statement introducing the video, posted on a militant website, the group says the footage "was part of their (the diplomats) confessions, and we will present you with more, God willing."
