A man killed in London subway

A man was reportedly killed by police at a London subway station near site of terror attack Friday. The man was shot five times supposedly suspected of being a terrorist, says Pravda.ru.

Passenger Mark Whitby told BBC News he had seen a man of Asian appearance shot five times by "plain-clothes police officers" with a handgun.

"I saw the gun being fired five times into the guy - he is dead," he said. "He looked like a cornered fox. He looked petrified," Whitby added.

Whitby said it didn't look like the man was carrying anything but said he was wearing a thick coat that looked padded.

"We can confirm that just after 10 a.m. armed officers entered Stockwell Tube station," a police statement said according to the AP.

"A man was challenged by officers and subsequently shot. London Ambulance Service attended the scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene."

British Transport Police said the Northern and Victoria Tube lines, which pass through Stockwell in south London, were suspended because of the shooting.

Passengers said that a man - described as South Asian - ran onto a train and tripped.

There were unconfirmed reports that police believe the suspect was one of the attackers involved in yesterday's incidents, says The Daily Mail.

The shooting came as police are hunting four would-be suicide bombers after incidents at four locations around London yesterday. Detectives are scrutinising CCTV footage from the transport network for clues to the attackers.
