Police arrest four hostage-takers following standoff at international school in Cambodia

Four masked gunmen seized children from several nations at an international school in Cambodia in an hours-long standoff Thursday that ended in gunfire, with police saying the hostages were freed and the attackers arrested.

"Four hostage takers have been arrested. There are only four of them," Deputy Military Police Commander Prak Chanthoeum said. Police earlier said there were six attackers.

The hostage crisis unfolded at Cambodia's tourism hub of Siem Reap, near its famed Angkor temples and home to many expatriates, and quickly drew concern from governments around the region amid reports of up to 15 nationalities among the hostages, including Japanese, Australian and American.

The attackers' motives were not immediately clear.
