Ukraine says about 20 metric tons of fish found dead in Azov Sea

Ukrainian experts are investigating the deaths of 20 metric tons (22 U.S. tons) of fish in the Azov Sea, emergency officials said Tuesday.

The dead goby were found Monday on the banks of the sea near the village of Urzuf in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

The preliminary cause of death is a lack of oxygen due to the high temperatures in the sea, which is known for its shallow waters and rich fishing resources. Ukraine shares the sea with Russia.
