Gunshots fired in Kyrgyz capital

Several gunshots rang out on a street in downtown Bishkek as helmeted police in bulletproof vests chased a rowdy group of youths.

Dozens of youths ran down the street, shouting as the shots were heard. It was unclear whether police were firing at the youths in the confrontation, which came after sporadic gunfire was reported in other parts of the capital, where streetlights were off.
