First injured reported near Batumi statehouse as protests go on

Shooting has been reported near the Supreme Council of Adjaria in Batumi. Adjaria television said the exchange of fire was between people dressed in civilian clothes. According to Georgian authorities, the shooting began from the side of armed units loyal to Aslan Abashidze. Those were mostly shots fired into the air.

There have been reports of injuries. According to Georgian sources, some seven members of the opposition have suffered injuries of various degrees of seriousness.

Opposition meetings are continuing in Batumi, with the opposition asserting that they will not stop until Abashidze quits his post.
