Moscow resolutely condemns the terrorist attack in Damascus, which aimed to destabilize the situation in Syria, and bring fear and incertitude into the country, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko said.
"We express sympathy with the Syrian authorities and confirm Russia's principled position on the international community's consolidation to fight against international terrorism," he stressed.
On Tuesday night four terrorists opened fire and blasted a car in Damascus near some diplomatic missions. Two terrorists were killed and the other two wounded in the skirmish. A policeman and a passer-by died, as well.
