A Chechen police murderer detained in Daghestan

The police of Daghestan (a Russian autonomy on the western Caspian coast near Chechnya) have detained one of the murderers of the Chechen policemen in the Ishkhoi-Yurt settlement of the Gudermes district, Chechnya. The detainee's name is Elkhadzhiyev, 22.

RIA Novosti learnt this on Monday from spokesman for the regional operative HQ for the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus Ilya Shabalkin.

"In the past few days, law-enforcers had made active efforts to expose those involved in the crime committed on April 13 in the Ishkhoi-Yurt settlement," said Mr. Shabalkin.

In his words, Elkhadzhiyev is being interrogated about his accomplices.

"Local residents are of great help in exposing and searching for the criminals. They have helped to establish that members of the gang which committed this terrorist act included three residents of the Ishkhoi-Yurt settlement Aslanbek Vadalov, Isa Ganayev and Adam Duruyev," said the spokesman.

According to him, these militants are known as active underground members. Vadalov is a commander, Duruyev a guide, and Ganayev is on the federal wanted list for a series of crimes.

On April 13, up to 20 camouflaged militants armed with automatic weapons shot dead a district police officer, Lieutenant Abdulmezhidov.

At 10 pm local residents discovered an unidentified body in a police uniform.

At 9.30 pm the same criminals opened fire at Zhiguli and Volga cars with the district policemen and local residents.

As a result, acting chief of the district police Lieutenant Ilyasov, policemen Ozdiyev, Khakimov, Yasimbiyev, Tarashev and a local civilian who is being identified, were killed.
