The bodies of another four miners were found in the Taizhina mine in Kuzbass (Siberia), where an accident happened on Saturday. The total number of those killed reached 20, said Valery Korchagin, a spokesman for the Kemerovo department of civil defense and emergencies.
In his words, presently, rescuers are clearing the debris at the site of the tragedy, where bodies of killed miners are found.
Thirteen people were saved, three of them hospitalized. "There are no exact data on the number of those miners who remain under ground," Mr. Korchagin said.
The accident at the Taizhina mine took place at 6:55 a.m. local time (2:55a.m. Moscow time). It must have been a methane emission, Korchagin said.
One of injured miners said there was a loud flop and a flash.
In doctors' words, the injured miner has a trauma, a fracture of the ulna and a concussion. Doctors say he is in stable condition.
Thus, the total number of those hospitalized after the accident on the mine is three.
Rescue continues. Some 30 miners whose fate is unknown might still be underground.
