Chechen separatist leader's chief bodyguard surrenders

The chief bodyguard of Chechen separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov has surrendered to federal forces. Shaa Turlayev, born in 1969, turned himself in to Russian forces in the Ganson-Chu settlement of the Nozhai-Yurt region of Chechnya. According to the Regional Command Center in the North Caucasus, this was the result of a special operation carried out by the security service of the Chechen President and law-enforcement agencies.

Turlayev is now being checked on involvement in grave crimes.
