The militant who killed two policemen was liquidated in Grozny, Chechnya's capital.
According to the Interior Ministry, a junior sergeant of the police special task force (OMON) was killed at the central market in Grozny's Zavodskoi district yesterday. The criminal stole the sergeant's gun, ammunition and a Kenwood radio station. After that, he escaped in the sergeant's car.
Later the car was found in the village of Aldy of the Oktyabrsky district. During the routine checking of papers, the driver opened fire and mortally wounded a sergeant of the police, who died on the way to hospital.
The criminal was liquidated by return fire. He turned out to be a Magomed Kasumov, an active militant. A Makarov pistol and two hand grenades were seized from him.
The investigation is underway. Policemen are looking for the pistol and ammunition stolen from the sergeant who was killed at the market.
