Russian not involved in murder of Skyguide air traffic controller

Vladimir Savchuk, an Ufa (the capital of the Bashkortostan Republic in the Ural area) resident whose wife and two children died in a plane crash two years ago in Switzerland, was not involved the murder of Peter Nielsen, a Danish SkyGuide air traffic controller.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Vladimir Savchuk said that he had not left the republic in the last six months.

Earlier, some media outlets reported that a citizen from Ufa whose wife and daughter died in a plane crash near Lake Boden could be involved in the murder of the air traffic controller.

The relatives of those who died in the plane crash oppose connecting the murder of the air traffic controller with the tragedy, the head of the Bashkir public organization which unites the relatives of plane crash victims, Zulfat Khammatov, told RIA Novosti.

"The people who lost their relatives cannot wish that one of the main defendants in this case dies because it may negatively affect the completion of the court hearings and, hence, on the payment of compensations," noted Mr. Khammatov.
