Turkish ambassador on terrorist acts in Istanbul

Terrorist acts in Turkey were caused by the fact that Ankara is seeking to form a secular and democratic society, the Turkish ambassador to Russia said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.

"Terrorist acts in Istanbul on November 20th have indicated how important international co-operation in the anti-terrorist fight is," said the diplomat.

British Ambassador to Russia Roderick Lyne, also invited to the press conference, said that the terrorist acts were not just an assault on Turkey but also on the entire humanity.

We should not let terrorists destroy normal civilised life on the planet, Sir Roderick Lyne stressed.

Therefore the British government sees the fight against international terrorism as the present-day priority of the international community.
