Four militants were arrested in Ingushetia (a republic in the North Caucasus, bordering on Chechnya) during an operation to release hostages, the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MVD) in Chechnya told RIA Novosti.
"A militant captured prior to the event told the police that a hostage was being held in the city of Nazran, in Moskovskaya Street," a MVD spokesman said. "The hostage is in a stable condition but his name will not be disclosed in the interests of the investigation."
Police confiscated a Kalashnikov rifle, Makarov pistol, homemade grenades and other explosives, portable radio transmitters and binoculars.
