Tehran continues to insist that it had nothing to do with the Argentine tragedy

Hamid Reza Assefi, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official spokesman, gave the lie to the accusations made by a witness presented by the Argentine court in the case on the explosion of the Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires in 1994.

In Assefi's words, the Iranian foreign ministry's press service reported Friday that contradictory statements of the person presented as a witness were just another attempt of the Argentine judicial system to falsify a case based on "corrupt witnesses' statements".

In the Iranian diplomat's opinion, "the case on the explosion of the Jewish cultural center in the Argentine capital is absolutely unfounded and is not supported by any legal documents.

Accusations against Iran were made by a former officer of the Iranian intelligence services who is in Germany now, during a TV link-up.

Buenos Aires accuses Hadi Soleimanpur, former Iranian ambassador to Argentina, and a number of high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, of participation in the explosion of the Jewish cultural center which killed 85 people.
