Air bomb found on Chechen section of Russian-Georgian border

An air bomb has been discovered in a militants' cache on the Chechen section of the Russian-Georgian border.

The discovery was made by a reconnaissance department of the Argun Border Detachment on Wednesday afternoon, reported the press service of the North Caucasian regional border department of the Russian Federal Security Service.

The cache also contained an SVD sniper rifle with about 50 cartridges and a radio set.

In all over the first nine months of 2003, a total of 1,500 shells, 180 mines, more than 90 grenades, about 20 kg of explosives, and more than 56,000 cartridges of different calibre were found in caches of Chechen militants in caches in mountainous areas. No air bombs were ever cached before, the press service said.
