Frankfurt police finds stolen picture by Russian artist

The German police has found the illustration by artist Sergei Alimov to Nikolai Gogol's story "Nose" and handed it over to the Russian side. The picture was stolen from the Forum pavilion at the Frankfurt am Main book-fair.

RIA Novosti learnt this from Nelly Petkova, director of the programme "Russia - the Central Guest of the Book-Fair in Frankfurt am Main." According to her, the picture was returned without the frame and "in a shabby state." Sergei Alimov's brother, artist Boris Alimov, who is now in Frankfurt am Main, has identified the picture. He also promised to restore it slightly to make it possible to return the picture to the "Russian Book Illustration" exposition on Sunday.

According to the preliminary data, the illustration was stolen by an ethnic Russian from France.

Other details of the incident are not yet known.
