Chechen nationals were among militants killed in Pakistan

Pakistani "News" newspaper reported on Saturday, quoting military officials, that among militants eliminated on Thursday during an anti-terrorist operation on the border with Afghanistan were several Chechen nationals.

It was the largest anti-terrorist operation conducted by the Pakistani army after the fall of the Taliban regime in the neighboring Afghanistan. The operation took place in Southern Vaziristan against a group of mujaheddins, which had allegedly crossed the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Eight militants were killed and 20 were captured alive. Soldiers seized a large number of weapons and ammunition.

According to Pakistani mass media, judging by appearance, there are Caucasus natives among the detained militants, as well.

In the interests of the investigation, the Pakistani authorities have so far refused to provide information about the nationalities of the killed and detained militants.
