Act of terror averted in Chechnya

Local interior affairs department officers and military commandant's office servicemen staved off a terrorist act in Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan district near Orekhovo village.

The Chechen interior ministry reported on Wednesday that a homemade explosive device was discovered at the roadside near Orekhovo. The bomb was made up of a container with 12 kg of plastic explosives, reinforcement ends and bolts inside.

"The criminals intended to blow the device by means of a Kenwood radio. Investigation is underway," the interior ministry said.
