Four forest fires registered in Russia's Far East

Four new forest fires were registered in the Russian Far East on Monday.

As RIA Novosti was told in the controller service of the Far-Eastern aviation protection of forests, during the past weekend forest fires in the Maritime Territory were extinguished (they numbered seven on Friday). All the ignitions in the Amur and Jewish Autonomous Regions, as well as the Khabarovsk Territory and the Chukchi Autonomous Area were earlier eliminated.

According to the data of the controller service, on Monday one forest was registered in the Magadan and Sakhalin Regions each, and two - in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

As the controller service officials said, the fire-hazardous situation has been normalised in the region as a whole. The still existing hotbeds of fire are small, are under control, and there is no danger of their extension.

All in all, 3,622 forest fires emerged in the Far East of Russia since the beginning of the fire-hazardous period, the controller service officials noted. The total area hit by fire is 996,292 hectares.
