3 policemen killed in a Dagestan shoot-out
Three policemen were killed in a shoot-out near Agachaul village on the outskirts of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, right behind Tarki-Tau mountain.
Talking to RIA-NOVOSTI, Makhachkala police-department duty officers noted that the three dead patrolmen tried to detain criminals during a special operation when the fire-fight occurred. The police were looking for thugs, after spotting a car laden with weapons in the vicinity. Additional police units are now combing the area.
Dagestan is a North Caucasian republic, which borders on Chechnya.
