Defense Minister of Russia Sergei Ivanov called the actions of the pilots of the two military helicopters that crashed in the Far East "lightheaded bravado and air hooliganism."
The helicopters collided during landing at an airfield near the city of Ussuriisk in the Maritime Territory. Five pilots died and one was wounded in the crash.
The Defense Minister told reporters that the helicopters were returning from exercises and their rotors clashed during couple landing. Couple landing was not envisaged by the exercises, Sergeyev stressed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his speech dedicated to the Day of the Russian Navy, recalled the threats that Russia is currently facing from a number of countries.
