Life attempt at person presenting presidential candidate in Karachai-Circassia

Attempt on the life of Maria Kamenskaya, presenting presidential candidate Mustafa Batdyev, has been made in Karachai-Circassia (Russia's republic in the North Caucasian region). On Friday night a bottle with incendiary mixture was thrown near her house.

Fire was promptly extinguished and nobody has suffered, the prosecutor's office of Karachai-Circassia told RIA Novosti. It has assumed control of investigation of the incident.

Mustafa Batdyev, president of the republican National Bank, is leading on the results of the first round of the presidential race, held here last Sunday. By now he has obtained more votes than the incumbent president of Karachai-Circassia Vladimir Semenov. The second round will be held on August 31.
