Storm causes damage in south east Russia

A devastating storm passed off in the Volgograd region on Tuesday (the Volgograd region is a large region in South East Russia). Wind velocity was 30 meters per second. The storm inflicted heavy damage on four districts of the region, local administration reports.

Several people are injured.

Rescuers are working on the site at the moment, a regional operative staff has been set up to deal with the aftermath of the natural disaster. Affected villages and towns are being provided with water and food.

Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu went down to the Volgograd region.
