Murder of Czech citizen in Daghestan solved

The murder of a citizen of the Czech Republic in Daghestan has been disclosed. Two local inhabitants, detained on suspicion of being involved in this murder, confessed committing this crime, the RIA Novosti correspondent was told in the Interior Ministry of that Russian republic in the North Caucasus.

On August 8, the body of a stranger with knife and bullet wounds was found on the bank of the river in the western part of Daghestan. The local police reported about it, as well as that the man had been identified, only this morning. The murdered person is Martin Kraus, 30, a businessman from the Czech Republic who lived in Prague. He arrived in the republic on August 5 with a legally drawn up Russian visa. The aim of his trip was to purchase and sell articles of local craftsmen. As he told the Daghestan police when being registered, he had already organised such business in Ukraine. The businessman also told the policemen that from Daghestan he intended to go via the territory of Chechnya to the Elbrus mountain in the Stavropol Territory, another North Caucasian area of Russia.

The Daghestan police did not recommend the guest to go through the Chechen territory because it is dangerous there and advised to choose another route. Judging by the fact that the body was found in the area in Daghestan close to Chechnya, Mr. Kraus did not follow the advice.

However, he did not fall victim to the Chechen militants. Magomed Gitinomagomedov, 25, unemployed, and Ahmed Magomedov, 22, admitted committing this crime with the aim of robbing the man. They were detained when the police found out that they had the Volkswagen car which belonged to the murdered Czech businessman, reported the Daghestan Interior Ministry.

The murderers will be put on trial.
