Belizean trawler arrested for illegal fishing in Russian waters

The Diamant, a trawler registered under the flag of the Central American republic of Belize, was detained in Russia's exclusive economic zone for poaching. The captain of the ship is a Russian citizen.

Searching through the ship, border guards came across 4 tons of illegally caught crab, reported the press center of the Pacific Regional Border Department of the Russian Federal Security Service.

The captain was unable to produce documents permitting fishing in Russia's economic zone.

The poaching vessel was ordered to head for the port of Korsakov, Sakhalin for investigation.
