The Russian Interior Ministry identified 98,707 drug-related crimes during the first six months of 2003. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the press office of the Interior Ministry yesterday, this was announced by Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov during talks with his Belarussian counterpart Vladimir Naumov in Minsk. Mr Gryzlov pointed out that over eight tonnes of illegal drugs had been seized over the six-month period thanks to the efforts of Russian law-enforcement officers. According to the Russian ministry's press office, the two ministers also discussed bilateral issues relating to immigration and talked about an intergovernmental project which anticipates the use of immigration cards.
