Fourteen servicemen die and six injured in rebel attacks in Chechnya

In Chechnya as a result of two terrorist acts fourteen servicemen are dead and six injured. The Ministry of Internal Affairs press service told Rosbalt that on May 23 on the border of Kurchaloevsky and Vedensky regions rebels exploded powerful landmines while a column of military cars and servicemen passed on the road. After the explosion, the column was fired on with automatic weapons. As a result of the attack seven servicemen died and four were injured.

On May 24 rebels ambushed servicemen of the regional commandant's office near the village of Argina in the Vedensky region of Chechnya. According to reports, a mine blew up then the group was shot at by rebels. Seven servicemen were killed and two injured. The prosecutor's office of the Southern federal district has filed a criminal case according to statue no. 25 of the Russian criminal code (terrorism).
