Russian national died as a result of terrorist act in Afula trade centre, Israel

Guard of the Afula trade centre Kirill Shermenko, who died as a result of a terrorist act last Monday, had double citizenship and was also a Russian national.

According to data provided by Israeli media, he arrived in the country three years ago from the Urals for permanent residence. Monday was the first working day for Shermenko as a guard. He received this job after the service in the army.

It was precisely Kirill and his fellow worker who prevented a suicide terrorist, who exploded a bomb at the entrance, from penetrating the trade centre. The guard girl received heavy wounds and was hospitalised.

A 19-year old Palestinian suicide terrorist, Hiba Daraghmeh, lived in the Arab settlement of Tubas on the western coast of the Jordan river. The girl is reported to be devout believer. She went to Afula wearing non-traditional Islamic clothes - a stylish dress and high hill shoes. But she arose suspicion of the guards who, risking their lives did not let her enter the trade centre. Otherwise, there would have been more victims.

As a result of the bomb explosion, apart from Kirill Shermenko and the suicide terrorist, a 36-year old Avi Zarigan, a resident of the Israeli town of Neit-Shean and a 41-year old Israeli Arab Hassan Ismail Tawtha from the settlement of Gisser Azareh also died in Afula. Tens of people were wounded.
