Georgian Supreme Court refuses to extradite 3 Chechen to Russia

On Friday, the Georgian Supreme Court refused to extradite three Chechens to Russia. They were arrested for trespassing the Russian-Georgian border and are accused of performing several grave crimes on Russian territory. The statement on the extradition of Islam Mulkoyev, Temur Baimurzayev and Adlen Usmanov was cancelled.

They will be tried for trespassing the Georgian state border and disorders in jail by a decision of the Georgian Supreme Court.

According to lawyer Maka Dzamukashvili, soon the Tbilisi district court will consider the suit of the Chechens against Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze who did not shelter them as refugees.

Earlier, Tbilisi already extradited five out of 13 Chechens arrested in Georgia in summer 2002 for trespassing the border.
