Almost 500 forest fires raging in Russia

495 forest fires has been registered in Russia, 174 fires appeared over the last 24 hours, the Russian Emergency Ministry's information department reported.

"Over the last 24 hours fire in Russian forests covered almost 13,000 hectares," the agency's interlocutor said. According to the ministry, the majority of fires, 150, is registered in the Chita region, the Far East, 62 out of them are large. 81 fires /2 large/ are raging in Buryatia, Siberia, 76 /4 large/ in the Irkutsk region, Siberia, and 38 in Yakutia, East Siberia.

Over 7,000 people, over 1,000 ground units and more than 60 units of aircraft participate in the elimination of fires.
