Sweden bought Russian military secrets from Spies

Sweden has received details of top-secret military technology used by the Russian Air Force from spies, according to an audit of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. The Swedish press today reports that the audit shows that the Exico company received several orders between 1994 and 2002 to supply aviation technology to the Swedish armed forces. In total, Exico was paid about USD 8.5 million.

Exico prospered during development work by Swedish designers on the JAS 39 Gripen plane. Over the eight-year period a significant quantity of parts for Russian radar systems was supplied to Sweden along with various computer software.

Birgitta Bohlin, the general director of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, does not deny that the agency resorted to the services of spies, but claims that Exico did not always supply the materials and information 'which the agency had paid for.'
