SARS-Infected Blagoveschensk Resident Still in a Serious Condition

The state of the 25-year-old Russian from Blagoveschensk (Russia's Far Eastern city on the border with China) Denis Soinikov infected with atypical pneumonia remains grave but with positive dynamics.

RIA Novosti learnt this Friday from Russia's chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onischenko.

In his words, the patient has a slightly high temperature (37 degrees), but can breathe without the reviving apparatus. Since Sunday, his first day in hospital in Blagoveschensk, an entire set of SARS treatment measures have been taken, Onischenko emphasised.

No SARS cases have been registered among residents of the local Zarya hotel where the patient had lived.

"They are all right, and on Saturday quarantine will be cancelled in this hotel accommodating 76 Chinese and 25 Russians," said Onischenko.
