Forest Fires Keep Raging in Russia's Far East

The emergency situation regime in connection with the forest fires was declared on Tuesday in four discticts of the Khabarovsk Territory (the Far East).

As RIA Novosti was told in the state control department of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation for the Khabarovsk Territory, the heads of the administrations of the Verkhne-Bureinsky, Komsomolsky, Amursky and Solnechny districts signed an ordinance on introducing the emergency situation regime.

"This forced measure was taken in connection with the fact that the flame of the forest fires has been spreading at a threatening speed and facts show that people carelessly dealing with fire in the forest are to blame for the fires in most cases", head of a section with the department Fyodor Frolov said.

According to him, the most alarming situation has arisen in the above-said four districts where 30-35 new fires are registered every day.

The emergency situation regime will make it possible to limit the population's access to forests, especially on days-off and holidays.
