133 New Forest Fires Registered in Russia over 24 Hours

133 fires broke out in Russian forests over the past 24 hours, a source in the Information Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported on Monday. All in all, there are 337 fires registered in the country's forests. During Sunday, the fire burned out a total of 6,438 hectares of woods.

The largest amount of fires, 156, has been registered in the Chita region, Eastern Siberia. 11 of them are large. 82 forest fires, 7 of them large, were reported from Buryatia, Eastern Siberia, and 40 /2 of them large/ from the Khabarovsk territory, Far East.

768 units of firefighting machinery and 35 units of aircraft participate in the elimination of fires.

All in all, according to the information of the Emergencies Ministry, the country has registered more than 3,000 forest fires covering a territory of 135,000 hectares since the beginning of 2003.
