US Sappers' Mistake Kills 40 in Baghdad

At least 40 people were killed and dozens more wounded while US sappers destroyed missiles and shells in Baghdad.

On Saturday morning, US sappers set out to destroy the missiles and shells left by the retreating Iraqi army. Witnesses said there must have been a mistake in calculations of the American military since some of the munitions detonated and the explosion fragments reached well into Zafraniya, a residential area 15 kilometers away from the center of Baghdad, causing serious damage.
