Federals continue mopping-up operations in Chechnya

The Russian federal forces have launched a special operation to hunt down rebels in the villages of Serzhen Yurt and Avtury, in the Shali District of Chechnya.

Abdullah Sapiyev, deputy head of the district administration, says traffic circulation is now limited here. However, local residents face no constraints in moving in and out.

Only people with suspicious looks have their IDs checked, Sapiev says. Local administration officials participate in the operation alongside federals. No complaints against federal officers' actions have so far been voiced by local inhabitants. The situation in the operation zone is stable, the source assures.
