2 policemen killed in Chechnya

Two Chechen policemen were killed in a terrorist attack in Chechnya's Shali district, reported the Interior Office for the Chechen Republic. A group of separatists wearing camouflage uniforms attacked an UAZ car belonging to the signal center of the Shatoi district with automatic weapons, killing two district policemen, Midigov and Khazuyev. Return fire from policemen killed a militant, who has not been identified yet. The incident took place outside the village of Chiri-Yurt.

In the meantime, a group of bandits attacked a police patrol car in the Oktyabrsky district of the Chechen capital, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus. Driving in a Zhiguli past a police UAZ with soldiers of a mobile interior detachment, the terrorists opened fire, wounding a junior lieutenant. The attack was staged on Monday evening.

On the same evening in the district center of Vedeno, militants assaulted a provisional interior office building and the district's army commandant's office with automatic weapons and grenade launchers, wounding a serviceman on active duty.

Return fire was opened on each of these occasions. Nothing was reported about casualties among militants.
