The UN delegation headed by deputy Secretary General Mr. Olar Ottunu arrived in Grozny on Wednesday.

The UN representatives intend to learn the humanitarian situation in the republic.

The House of Government hosted a meeting between the members of the delegation and the Chechen cabinet ministers.

The UN will pay special attention to issues of providing help to children, Mr. Ottunu stated. It has been decided to work out a joint program on providing aid to Chechen children aimed at improving their health.

The delegation will make a trip around Grozny, visit two schools, a children's centre and a temporary settlement, where they will gain a detailed impression about the living conditions of children and people as a whole.
