5 alleged terrorists arrested in Chechnya

Law enforcers have arrested five residents of Chechnya's Kurchaloi district on suspicion of being members of an illegal armed unit, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

While raiding the village of Novaya Zhizn, law enforcers came across a cache containing 4 Kalashnikov assault rifles, a Makarov pistol, a TT pistol, a Mauser, a revolver, 2 sporting guns and a large number of cartridges, said a source in the headquarters. Apparently, the weapons belonged to five locals.

The five suspects were immediately arrested. Police are checking into their affiliation with illegal armed units.
