The orderer and performer of a terrorist act committed in Chechnya on July 2, 2000 identified

Russian investigative authorities have identified the persons who ordered and carried out the terrorist act in Chechnya on July 2, 2000 when an explosive-loaded truck drove into the hostel of law-enforcement personnel in Argun. As the regional operations headquarters reports, head of a terrorist group, Chechen Arbi Barayev killed last winter, ordered the terrorist act, which was carried out by former chairman of the Sharia court of the Kurchaloi district in Chechnya Movladi Taimaskhanov.

These facts have been established in the course of the investigation that lasted about two years. The investigative authorities have also identified the persons who organized and financed the terrorist act. The regional operations headquarters said that now all efforts are being taken to catch and arrest them.

The names of these persons have not yet been made known.

On July 2, 2000 a suicide bomber driving the Ural-2 truck, loaded with explosive, broke at high speed into the place of the location of the Argun provisional interior department and hit a hostel. The disastrous explosion claimed the lives of 24 officers of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office while 8 persons received wounds of various degree of gravity
