3 soldiers wounded in landmine explosion in Chechnya

Three soldiers were wounded when Chechen separatists blew up a landmine in front of an armoured convoy, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

The incident happened near the village of Sernovodsk, Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan district. A radio-controlled landmine went off in front of an armoured interior troops convoy, wounding a deputy company commander, a platoon commander, and an enlisted serviceman.

In a separate development, terrorists attacked the Kozyr checkpoint in Argun with weapons. No one was hurt.

On the same day, law enforcers staved off two terrorist acts in the Chechen capital Grozny by discovering and defusing two handmade explosive devices. One was found on a highway in Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district during a raid conducted by a composite police detachment. It consisted of a fuse and a metallic hull stuffed with trotyl and bolts. The other was discovered in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district, also in a road. This one was made up of a 82 mm mine, 600 g of trotyl, and an electric detonator.
