Head of local administration killed in Chechnya

In Chechnya, Islamic separatists have murdered the administration head of the village of Bachi-Yurt, Kurchaloi district. On the night of May 30, five assailants gunned down the administration head, Dzhamalov, outside his house, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus on Friday. Police are investigating the case. In a separate development an hour earlier, unidentified assailants attacked the house belonging to one Salmaniyev, a duty officer from the local police station, with a grenade launcher. One of the grenades exploded inside the house, wounding the policeman's wife and son.
