Israel army units re-enter Hebron

In the early hours of Thursday, Israeli army units equipped with armoured vehicles re-entered the Palestinian town Hebron on the West Bank of the Jordan river.

The units were deployed from three directions at a time. According to the obtained information, the Israelis arrested the Palestinians suspected of terrorist activities.

In particular, the available reports say that a leader of the radical Islamic organisation Hamas Wayed Uweik and commander of the Islamic jihad Mohammed Sider have also been apprehended. Both of them had long been on the black lists of the Israeli secret services.

Six Palestinians were arrested in the village Faron south of Hebron on Thursday morning.

The Israeli servicemen are continuing their operation in the western districts of Hebron where the Islamic college is situated, and in the southern part of the town.

Besides, the Israelis' operation in Bethlehem and the refugee camp Deheishe to the west of this town is still under way. Reports are coming from there about the arrests of Palestinian commanders.

Jewish Gush-Katif settlement was shelled last night in Gaza Strip. No casualties reported.
